CONFERENCE CHAIR
Prof. Dr. Hari Prasad Neopane
Conference Chair for USC 2023
Prof. Dr. Hari Prasad Neopane is a professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kathmandu University, Nepal. He has been working at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kathmandu University, since 2000 and serving the university with different administrative responsibilities, which include International Master Program Coordinator, Head of Department, Associate Dean of the School of Engineering, Member Secretary of the Turbine Testing Lab, etc.
His fields of interest are hydropower turbine design and sediment erosion. He received his PhD in fluid engineering from the Department of Energy and Process Engineering, NTNU, Norway, in 2010. He has published more than 100 research articles and three book chapters in national and international journals and conference proceedings. He has received the Education Award (Shikshya Puraskar), the Young Scientist Award, and many more from the government of Nepal for the dedication of his service and contribution in the education sector of Nepal.
Prof. Neopane has been coordinating several research projects, which include an Erasmus + project on capacity building, the Norwegian Research Council, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, NORAD, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Nepal Electricity Authority, UGC Nepal, and many more. He has also handled a number of national and international conferences and training courses related to his field of interest. He has also been supervising a large number of master’s and PhD students in Nepal and abroad and guiding them in their research endeavors. He has visited more than 25 countries for research and development as well as international collaboration and cooperation.
As a dedicated educator, Prof. Neopane has played a vital role in shaping the curriculum and academic programs at Kathmandu University. His teaching methodologies emphasize practical application and critical thinking, equipping students with the skills necessary for real-world engineering challenges. He is known for his engaging lectures that encourage students to explore innovative solutions and nurture their passion for mechanical engineering. He has served on various committees and advisory boards, offering his expertise to promote academic excellence and research advancement in the field of mechanical engineering.
